JEWELLERY INFORMATION

Pascal Necklace

All jewellery must be authenticated in accordance to the ‘Hallmarking Act 1973’.

This involves testing the precious metal and marking the product to indicate a legal standard of purity. The process is called ‘assaying’ and is displayed with three marks; the Sponsor’s Mark, Standard Mark and the Assay Office Mark.

Sponsor’s Mark – The registered mark of the sender. All PASCAL Jewellery is marked with PJ.

Standard Mark – A number indicating the precious metal content. sterling silver is marked as 925 and 18ct gold is 750.

Assay Office Mark - The mark of the Assay Office that tested the piece.

Changing fashion means that precious metals are increasingly combined with non-precious metals (e.g. Steel). The Assay Office now hallmarks these items with the conventional hallmarking and also the text ‘Plus Metal’.

Unless specifically exempted, all gold, silver and platinum articles offered for sale must be Hallmarked. Please visit www.britishhallmarkingcouncil.gov.uk for further details.
